Biography

Ben Stubbs is an English singer-songwriter, musician, producer and recording artist. His main music style combines an eclectic range of genres into thought-provoking original songs that seamlessly blend pop, rock and country with a strong singer-songwriter vibe. A melodic, lyric driven sound heavily influenced by great songwriters like Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, Bruce Springsteen, Jack Johnson, Neil Young and John Mayer.

Born and raised on The Isle of Wight, England, Ben attended Medina High School where his passion for the Performing Arts began, learning to play Guitar and honing his singing ability from a young age.

Ben moved to Poitiers, France in 2011, spending a short stint performing live in bars and restaurants. During this time, he wrote the majority of his first EP, “Songs From Cherrytrees” which included what would later become his first public single release “Up in the Clouds” (2013).

Upon returning to the UK in 2013, Ben focussed his attention on music. He released his first single “Up in The Clouds” early in 2013 followed by a second “Time to Go” later that year, which was available on all major online stores.

He also continued to play live regularly throughout the south coast (uk) and was booked to perform at several large festivals.

In 2014 Ben released “Sea View Sessions”, an acoustic collection of original songs, onto “Bandcamp” and then took a hiatus from songwriting to focus on playing live and honing his skills as a performer.

Early in 2015 Ben took a month long trip to Thailand and spent several nights performing for fun at the popular live music venue “Kong Siam” on Koh Phi Phi and was offered the coveted position of resident entertainer which he gladly accepted. A position which was vital to Ben’s growth as a musician and a performer.

Following the death of Thailand’s King Bhumibol Adulyadej, a period of mourning was observed in Thailand and live performance was prohibited for an extended time. Ben returned to the UK where he worked as a full-time professional gigging musician from his home town of Ventnor on the Isle of Wight, performing at local bars, music venues, weddings and other private functions.

Ben rediscovered his passion for songwriting and creating music again in 2019 and, spurred on by the 2020 pandemic, started work on his debut album “Light of My Life” (release 19th May 2023); a dedication to his long term partner, Abi.

“Light of My Life” yielded two singles. “Driving in The Dark” (April 2023) and “Your Life is OK” (May 2023) Both have attracted global attention from music reviewers, radio presenters and playlisters and are available to listen to on all streaming services.
